A + E Chimney Sweep is husband-and-wife team Amy and Ewan Campbell‑Gillies.
We specialise in a friendly, honest and careful expert chimney sweep service for homes with fireplaces and log burners. For your extra peace of mind, we are registered members of The National Association of Chimney Sweeps (NACS).
And don’t worry, A + E stands for Amy and Ewan – not Accident and Emergency!

We cover Exeter, East Devon and Mid Devon. If you ask nicely, of course we’ll happily come out further too!
What we really like
Clean chimneys. Ewan will come to your place and clean your chimney using a combination of the traditional brush and rod method, and the modern rotary system. He’ll also clean your fireplace or wood burner surround.
What we don’t
Mess. Who likes that? Ewan will leave your home spic and span.
Who’s this handsome man sweeping my chimney anyway?
Ewan’s previous life was as an insurance broker specialising in thatched homes. This gives him an expert understanding of the standard of sweeping needed to keep your chimney working as well as it should and to keep your home safe and properly insured, especially for thatched properties.
What we’re doing to stay safe during Covid‑19
Safety is very important to us. We promise to:
- wear a mask (Ewan may look or sound like Darth Vader, but in this instance it’s a good thing!)
- wear a freshly-donned pair of nitrile gloves
- wipe down equipment with disinfectant between house calls
- ask you to pay by bank transfer if possible
- provide your sweep certificate by email, unless you ask for a paper copy
- answer any questions you have about safety
